Andrew is of Polynesian-descent and bi-lingual, fluent in English and French. He is a Licensed Master Social Worker who graduated from ASU. He has had a lot of experiences in multiple health care settings, including Banner Health. To heal, the individual must first be able to identify and acknowledge what he/she is struggling with, accept their strength and vulnerability, and then discover the courage to find a healthy solution to move forward. One of his favorite saying is “don't be too concern with what was and what will be…. Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift. That is why it is called the present”, from Kung Fu Panda. Given his past training in martial arts, Andrew uses the same mindfulness to help his client discover their own personal strength and journey towards a healthy mindset. He loves helping individuals and families find empowerment and build mental skills to gain control of their life and challenges. Andrew's motto on healing is repeated practice helps individuals become the better version of themselves through thoughtfulness and intentional mindfulness.

Drew Gibbons, LAC

DREW GIBBONS, LAC

Licensed Associate Counselor

(Sees patient age 5+)

Drew is a native Arizonan. He is a Licensed Associate Counselor granted through the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health. He obtained his Bachelors with a double major in Pastoral Ministry and the Bible from Manhattan Christian College which took him on a journey as a pastor, teacher, behavior coach, and later as a school counselor. Drew received his Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Grand Canyon University with an emphasis in choice theory and narrative therapy. He is a practitioner of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and is a proponent of a strength-needs based approach. He works with all ages 5 and up while having a consistent track record of choosing to work with children and teens in a range of help based professions. He is married to his best friend, who is a special education teacher in Gilbert, and they have a 16-year-old recently adopted son and are licensed foster parents. While Drew loves resources and has binders and tools ranging from coping skills to guided play therapy activities to prove it; his main passion is to help guide clients to finding long term sustainable pathways of understanding themselves and what they want their mental health story to be going forward.

Drew brings several emphases in his treatment style to the Lighthouse team by being a provider that can help with school behavior/parenting dynamics, men’s issues, and/or for clients who identify as Christian. For the latter, Drew comes with a non-judgmental and gospel informed approach for clients that seek assurance in knowing their faith won’t just be accepted but will be championed as a major strength and asset on their journey to mental and holistic health. Working with kids/teens he is nothing if not an experiential therapist and often brings puppets, games, SEL activities, and group exercises with him for both office treatment and when he works with students at a local elementary and jr. high school. Past clients have likened Drew to be “the smiling emoji brought to life,” and a, “silver lining whisperer,” and he naturally practices positive psychology in his own personality while also being grounded in the real world.

In his free time, Drew enjoys playing games with his family/friends, mentoring teens as a local youth pastor, guerrilla gardening, playing guitar/free-styling songs with wife, journaling/writing stories, and commuter bicycling. He lives and counsels by the quote from the best Spiderman (Tobey Maguire), “Whatever comes our way, whatever battle we have raging inside us, we always have a choice. My friend Harry taught me that. He chose to be the best of himself. It's the choices that make us who we are, and we can always choose to do what's right.”
